Chaquico Salutes Kenny G on New CD
Former Jefferson Starship guitarist Craig Chaquico [[Cha-KEY-so]] is saluting smooth jazz sax man Kenny G on his latest CD "Follow the Sun." He says he is putting his own spin on Kenny G's "Songbird," his breakthrough song from the 1980s.
Chaquico admits he underestimated the difficulty of reproducing some of Kenny G's sounds on his guitar, thinking it would be easy. After experimenting with some of "Songbird's" flourishes and fast notes, he changed his emphasis and focused on the beautiful melodies in the song. |
