Redbone's Lolly Vegas Dead At 70
One of the co-founders of the 1970s group Redbone has died. Lolly Vegas passed away in Los Angeles on March 4th at age 70 following a long battle with cancer. Vegas' spokesman Joe Ortiz confirmed the musician's death to the media over the weekend. Vegas helped form the Native American group Redbone in Los Angeles in the late 1960s. Its music was rock with jazz, tribal, R&B, and Latin roots. The band's biggest hit was 1974's "Come And Get Your Love," which Vegas also wrote. The song has endured in popular culture in the years since its release. Earth, Wind, and Fire covered the song, and the wireless communications provider Alltel also featured the song in an ad campaign. |
