Jennifer Hudson, Akon To Roll Out Quincy Jones Tribute Tracks
"Strawberry Letter 23," "You Put A Move On My Heart," and other tracks originally produced by Quincy Jones are getting updates. A tribute album called "Q: Soul Bossa Nostra," featuring highlights from Jones' catalog, is in the works. The album's first single is a rendition of The Brothers Johnson's "Strawberry Letter 23" by hip-hop artist Akon. Regarding the track, Akon said, quote, "When Quincy called and told me about this album, I said you have to let me do 'Strawberry Letter 23' and the funny thing is that's the song he was thinking about already." Jennifer Hudson also features prominently on "Q: Soul Bossa Nostra." The Oscar-winner said she was immediately interested in the project, adding that Jones is, quote, "a true artist, genius, and professional."
Hudson will cover Rod Temperton's "You Put A Move On My Heart," originally performed by Tamia for Jones' 1996 album, "Q's Jook Joint." Other artists featured on the tribute album include Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, and Wyclef Jean. The album, "Q: Soul Bossa Nostra," is expected to be available in May or June 2010. |
