Wayne Newton Parks Private Jet On Vegas Lawn
Wayne Newton is grounding his private jet in his Las Vegas backyard these days. TMZ.com reports that the two-million dollar aircraft reached its new home after it was taken apart, shipped from the Midwest, and reassembled on the grounds of Casa de Shenandoah -- Newton's Sin City estate. This, after the "Danke Schoen" singer paid off storage fees for the plane's three-year stay at a Detroit airport in a state of disrepair. Rather than make the necessary repairs to fly the ailing "bird" back to Nevada, Newton had the plane shipped in pieces. Earlier this year, Newton alleged that he'd paid over 700-thousand dollars to a team of aviation repair experts to work on the craft who failed to get the job done.
Newton recently cleared out another private flyer's fee. TMZ also reports that the 68-year-old settled a half-million debt with Monty Ward, the former pilot who sued him for unpaid wages. Ward won a judgment worth over five-hundred-one thousand dollars against Newton in 2009.
In related news, The "Las Vegas Sun" reports that Newton hopes to build a dinner theater and souvenir shop on his property, pending approval from local officials. |
