Yoko Ono Announces Plans To Remember Lennon's Birthday
As the date that would have marked John Lennon's 70th birthday approaches, Yoko Ono is announcing her plans. RollingStone.com reports that the late Beatle's widow says she'll be on an island off Reykjavik, Iceland to observe the day this October 9th. There, she'll host the annual lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower. After the lighting, The Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band -- featuring Yoko's son, Sean Lennon -- will play live. Ono says, quote, "The fact that this year is John's 70th birthday year is very special for us all. We are all together celebrating John for having given us so much good energy in his lifetime and now."
John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England on October 9th, 1940. The music legend was gunned down in front of his Manhattan home on December 8th, 1980 by Mark David Chapman. |
