Anberlin's Christian Preparing Fall Back Plan
Anberlin's Stephen Christian may be on top of the world musically at the moment, but he's making sure there's a fall back plan for when the popularity fades. Christian is attempting to balance grad school and his music career. He tells Billboard.com, quote, "It is very unlikely that this generation needs or wants or will create a Rolling Stones or U2. We're such an ADHD generation. We want the next big single - what's on the iTunes playlist today? It's like, no one wants to create a Bob Dylan. So I doubt this band will be around in 10 years, and there needs to be something that I can fall back on." Christian says he's really into doing humanitarian work and he feels that getting his MBA was the logical conclusion to helping him do what he wants after his music career. As for his and the band's future, Christian says it depends on the fans. He explains, quote, "It's the decision the fan has to make. It's a decision, sadly, that SoundScan decides, because if a label looks at a SoundScan and goes, 'You aren't meeting this criteria, I'm going to drop you,' then that's the fan's choice, because they chose to either illegally download it or just not listen to the record." While Christian says he would love for Anberlin to be around for another decade, it's not really in his hands to decide.
