Cee-Lo Ready For Language Backlash
Vocalist Cee-Lo Green is enjoying major success with his latest expletive-filled single, and even though it's upbeat and catchy, there are a few people who are unhappy with the content. Green tells RollingStone.com he's ready for the backlash that's sure to come with the liberal usage of curse words. He explains, quote, "I will make sure to have my iPad with me and go right to YouTube and say, 'Yo, let me play you something far worse. Let me play you 100 songs you don't want your kids to hear.' They'll beg me to play them my song before they hear those. It's like John Lithgow in 'Footloose.' Know what I'm saying?"
Green says it was never his intent to offend, and he considers it a victory that the song has caught on despite the obvious limitations caused by the language. To make sure radio can play the track, Green has made a version called "Forget You," but he adds, quote, "I don't like it as much. And neither will you...but you have both versions." |
