In 1977 "The Original Punk Movie," featuring The Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious, premiered in London. In 1978 Ex-Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon and his new band, Public Image Ltd., released their first single, "Public Image." In 1993 Depeche Mode began a North American tour in support of the album "Songs of Faith and Devotion." The The was on board as the opening act. In 2000 Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was released after a night in jail. The annual show celebrates the influence rock music has had on fashion and culture. New Found Glory and Yellowcard wrapped up a tour of Europe with a show in Hamburg, Germany. In 2005 Oasis launched a North American tour behind the album "Don't Believe the Truth" with a show in Vancouver, British Columbia. Green Day, and Good Charlotte were among the artists who took part in the TV special "NFL Opening Kickoff," which launched the 2005-2006 football season. David Bowie, Billy Idol, and Gwen Stefani took part in the 2005 Fashion Rocks concert at New York's Radio City Music Hall. In 2006 Nick Cave won the inaugural Gucci Group Award at the Venice Film Festival for his movie, "The Proposition." In 2007 Smashing Pumpkins began a North American tour in Montreal. It was the group's first full trek since their reunion. U2's Bono was among the thousands of mourners who attended the funeral for legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Italy. The 71-year-old opera star died two days earlier of pancreatic cancer. In 2009 New album releases included Boys Like Girls' "Love Drunk" and Andrew W.K.'s "55 Cadillac."<
