Metallica Announces Release Of "Six Feet Down Under"
Metallica is getting more music out to its global fanbase. In honor of an upcoming tour through Australia, the band has announced the release of "Six Feet Down Under" on Monday, September 20th. "Six Feet" features eight tracks, all recorded at concerts throughout Australia that date back to 1989. Non-Aussie fans can get the album via Metallica.com. Regarding the live performances, Metallica writes, quote, "Be gentle with us...a few of these songs are, well, we'll say 'rough,' which may be an understatement!! They do, however, capture the live moments and hopefully you'll have as much fun listening as we did playing on those nights." News of the release arrives as Metallica prepares to kick off the Australian leg of its "World Magnetic Tour." The rockers' first show is at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne next Wednesday, September 15th. Here is the track listing for Metallica's "Six Feet Down Under:" 1. Cellist Eicca Toppinen says his band has never been "stuck on the classical cello sound," but notes they allow the material to dictate how the instrument is used. Toppinen says he believes Apocalyptica's nontraditional use of the instrument is what makes the band special, adding, quote, "People who want to hear the classical cello string sound can go listen to some string quartet." He also notes the album "7th Symphony" offers a lot of variety -- including the most classical piece Apocalyptica has ever recorded and a track based in thrash metal with a symphonic take. Apocalyptica's "7th Symphony" is available now.
