Weezer Looking Back With "Memories"
The muse for Weezer's "Memories" single comes from the band's early days, but the video for the track has a more recent feel. Singer Rivers Cuomo tells MTV News the track recalls the days when he was supporting the band's first album. He explains that when he wrote the song, quote, "I had been married for a few months and had been in school for the semester before that, and basically I had been away from the band and the rock world for a while. I was really missing it, and just sitting there alone in my room missing the fans and missing my band, so 'Memories' is about getting back there."
The video features some of the friends the band has made in recent years. "Jackass" stars Johnny Knoxville, Wee Man, Chris Pontius, and Steve-O all turn up in the clip for what director Jeff Tremaine says is "an old-school skate jam." Weezer's "Memories" video premiered on MTV last night. |
