Lady A, Martina McBride Participating In Cancer Research Telethon
Lady Antebellum and Martina McBride are lending their talents to the fight against cancer. The country stars are among the confirmed participants for the latest "Stand Up To Cancer" multi-network telethon. Numerous stars have signed on for the televised charity event, which is raising money for cancer research. Cancer survivors Christina Applegate, Lance Armstrong, and Fran Drescher are on board for the special broadcast, along with Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, Katie Couric, Sally Field, Apolo Anton Ohno, Mandy Moore, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and many others. Actor Michael Douglas, who was just recently diagnosed with the disease, is also expected to make an appearance. The show will include musical performances and testimonials to emphasize the urgent need to find effective treatments and cures. The commercial-free "Stand Up To Cancer" TV fundraiser will air on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and several cable channels Friday night. |
